Surrounded by majestic mountains and nestled on the shores of crystal clear Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown is New Zealand’s premier four season lake and alpine resort.

Queenstown has a compact and sophisticated downtown area tucked into a picturesque bay on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. There’s also a permanent buzz in the downtown area where you’ll find a lively café/bar scene and excellent shopping.

Day 1

Arrive into Queenstown and be met by your PUREBLACK guide. Your guide will give you an orientation tour of Queenstown and the surrounding areas on the way to your luxury accommodation.

Spend the afternoon exploring the Queenstown township and lakefront by foot.

Day 2 – Ski Warm-up Day – Coronet Peak

Just 20 minutes’ drive from central Queenstown, Coronet Peak is a world-class ski and snowboard area, featuring state-of-the-art facilities, 280 hectares of skiable terrain and breath-taking views back over Queenstown.

Day 3 – Soho Basin Cat Ski – Adventure Day

Soho Basin Cat Skiing – This is a private ski area offering pristine high-country terrain, world-class views and gourmet dining in an atmosphere of relaxed and understated luxury. They combine the fun and adventure of an alpine off-piste experience with the ease and creature comforts of high-end ski resorts.

After reaching Soho Basin via a 60-minute drive or 10-minute helicopter ride from Queenstown, you’ll access our 264 hectares of skiable terrain from the comfort of a heated cabin atop our state-of-the-art snowcats.  Once on your skis or board, you’ll experience wide open slopes and expansive vistas of the Southern Alps.  With a huge variety of terrain at your feet, you can cruise down gentle slopes, navigate steep chutes, or anything in between.

With no more than two dozen guests per day, they are able to craft bespoke experiences for intimate groups of friends and family. Our experienced on-mountain team will show you the best lines and the deepest powder, whatever your chosen style.  And when you’re ready for a break, you’ll enjoy food and wine on the deck of our alpine hut, courtesy of the award-winning Amisfield Bistro.

Day 4 – Ski Day: Cardrona or HeliSki

The drive from Queenstown to Cardrona will take you over the Crown Range Pass – this is the highest alpine road in New Zealand.

Cardrona is New Zealand’s fun and family friendly ski resort with the most reliable snow conditions in the region. Its high elevation and southerly aspect mean dry natural snow is plentiful. If you’re up for a challenge, you’ll find it with secret powder stashes, chutes and cliff drops. Post your ski day, a stop at the The Cardrona Hotel (Est. 1863), one of New Zealand’s oldest and stopping past for a mulled wine after a day on the slopes is an absolute must.

Day 5 – Rest Day

Rest your legs for the day and take the opportunity to partake in the many leisure and adventure activities on offer in the greater Queenstown area. Options range from spa treatments to helicopter scenic flights out to Milford sound to 4WD adventures.

Day 6 – Heli Ski

Finish your trip in style with a world class day of heli-skiing. We have a mixture of terrain styles from rolling open bowls, steep chutes and some superb glaciated runs. Our operator has access to over 5,000 sq. kilometres of heli-ski terrain, providing a wide choice of runs and allows for regional snow variation – in other words you can pick where the snow is best each day and go there.

Day 7

Spend the morning relaxing and visiting any last minute sights or shops in Queenstown prior to being transferred to the airport for your departing flight.
